Local police confirmed they were called
to a hotel in the capital’s Palermo district
after reports of an “aggressive man who may
be under the influence of
drugs and alcohol,” Reuters reported.

The statement said: “The hotel
manager stated that he heard a loud
noise at the back of the hotel and when police
arrived he discovered that a man had
fallen from the balcony of his room.”

Citing an audio file obtained from Buenos

Aires’ security ministry, Reuters reported that police
received a call from an employee at
the Casa Sur Palermo hotel “requesting
emergency assistance for an intoxicated guest.”

“When he is awake he destroys the whole
room, please send someone,” the worker said,
adding that the rooms had a balcony and he
was endangering the lives of guests.

Payne, 31, was pronounced dead on
Wednesday after falling from the third-floor
balcony of his hotel room shortly after 5pm local time.

The investigation into Payne’s death is
ongoing. A photo of Payne’s body that appeared on TMZ
has since been removed by the news outlet. The
website faced backlash from fans over the “brutal

and unjustifiable” images, which
fans described as “unfortunate”.

Payne is in the middle of a fight with
his ex-partner Maya Henry. Metro announced
legal action this week after the 23-year-old model

“issued a cease and desist letter” after reporting
Payne’s “constant phone calls.” He continues to
communicate through a separate
iCloud account. The couple divorced in 2022.

While visiting Lake Como in Italy in 2023, Payne was hospitalized with severe kidney pain. The incident came after he had to cancel a trip to South America due to a “severe kidney infection” for which he had previously been hospitalized.
