Demetrius “Big Mitch” Flanoori
has been released
from federal prison.
The former drug lord, known as one of
the founders of the Black Mafia family,
was released from
FCI Coleman Law in Florida
on Oct. 15, Federal Bureau of Prisons officials
Scott Taylor said in
a statement. News
An official told E!
He said: Following
Flanoori’s release, this 56-year-old man
was moved to a communal cell, which
could include home
confinement or a
nursing home! Its expected release
date is currently January 27, 2026.
According to Newsweek, Mr. Flannory
founded a drug trafficking operation in
Detroit in the 1980s
with his brother, Terry
Lee “Southwest Tea”
Flannory. The operation
eventually became a
state-owned enterprise and
distributed more than
$270 million worth of
cocaine across the
United States before the
brothers were arrested
in 2005, the outlet said.
Two years later, both pleaded guilty to
continued criminal
activity and were
sentenced to 30 years in prison. How
many years in prison?
The brothers’ story is presented in
Curtis Jackson’s 50 Cent BMF crime
drama, which aired on Starz for three
seasons. In the series, Big Meech is played
by his real-life son Demetrius “Lil Meech”
Flenory Jr., who seeks advice from his father
and uncle on the project. “They definitely had
a lot of input because
history is the foundation. In March,
Lil Meech told Reult that they want
their characters to be portrayed as
they are. “You can’t be
100 percent true because
people are accused, but
this story is 90 percent true.”
Although the actor had no experience
before landing the role, the In Da Club
rapper encouraged him to work with
acting coaches and attend workshops to
bring his father’s story to the screen.
“People often can’t concentrate, but he
was able to do that all the time. “He
wanted to be a great actor, so he took
it seriously,” he told Metro UK in 2021.
Despite Jackson’s direction, he said
the 24-year-old earned the
role through hard work.
“When he came back, we signed him
up at the station and he actually got
the job,” he recalls. “He did it, not me.”
