Introduction: NBA opening scores
It was a historic night for two of the NBA’s
most storied franchises as they
prepare to begin the 2024-25 season.
The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers have won nearly
half of the NBA championships (35 of 78) since the league’s
inception, and the top two teams will be in the
spotlight in Tuesday night’s NBA opener.

Celtics 132, Knicks 109
There is no championship cat in Boston.
The Celtics waved their 18th pennant and tried on
their new rings during the pregame ceremony
Tuesday night. They then defeated the New York Knicks,
ending June with a 132-109 victory and opening the new NBA season with three points.
Jayson Tatum opened the game with a 3-pointer after 10 seconds. It was a sign of things to come as Boston dominated the Knicks with 29 of 61 three-pointers, setting a new NBA record for three-pointers made in a game. The Milwaukee Bucks set a 2020 record by making 29 3-pointers in a 144-97 win over the Miami Heat.
Tatum spent most of the summer on the bench in Paris, a largely unused Olympian, but he again showed his talent as the leadoff hitter on the championship team. He had 37 points, 10 assists and 4 rebounds, going 14 of 18 from the field and 8 of 11 from three rebounds.
Lakers vs Timberwolves
The Lakers have what could be one of the most anticipated second-round debuts in NBA history as Brony James makes his first regular season appearance and Los Angeles hosts Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves to meet his legendary father. .
LeBron James has often talked about wanting to play with his son over the years, and the two competed together in the preseason. The father and son duo have never played together in the NBA, but Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. are the first to pitch in Major League Baseball, and it will be tonight.
