Weightlifter Mirabai Chano finished fourth in her category
and missed out on a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
On the 12th day of the Paris 2024 Olympics,
Indian fans were very disappointed. Unfortunately,
Mirabai Chanu failed to win the bronze medal and could
not contribute to India’s medal tally. Mirabai
achieved the best weight in the clean and jerk
with 88 kg and thus placed herself in the bronze
medal competition. However, before the push rounds
he only managed a personal best of 111 kg, for a total
of 199 kg. He finished fourth, missing out on a
historic second Olympic medal.
Meanwhile, wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified
from the women’s 50kg gold medal event after not
participating in the morning weigh-in. She was found
to be 100 grams overweight. Bogattu was
eliminated the following day after being disqualified. Wrote
Vinesh wasn’t the only disappointment in the wrestling
world in Indy as Antim Pangal lost in the women’s
53kg round of 16. In table tennis, India, led by Srija Akula,
Manika Batra and Archana Ghosh, lost 3-1 to
Germany in the women’s table tennis quarterfinals.
There was plenty of action in Indian athletics with
Avinash Sable clocking 8:14:18 to finish 11th in the
men’s 3000m steeplechase final. Meanwhile,
Jyoti Jarraji finished seventh in the women’s 100m hurdles.
The results of the twelfth day of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games
Mirabai Sanu placed 4th in the women’s
weightlifting competition up to 49 kg with a lift of 199 kg.
Ship:
Vinesh Bhogat was disqualified from the women’s
50kg gold medal event for failing to cut weight.
In the women’s 53 kg category,
Andim Pankal lost 10-0 to Jainep Yeatkill in the round of 16.
Table tennis:
India (Srija Akula, Manika Patra and Archana Girish Kamath)
lost to Germany 3-1 in the women’s quarterfinals.
Sportiness:
Sarvesh Kushar finished 25th in the men’s high jump.
Jyoti Jarraji finished seventh in the women’s 100m hurdles.
Suraj Panwar and Priyanka Goswami lost
in the mixed team marathon and walking relay.
Annu Rani finished 15th with a throw of 55.81m
and failed to qualify for the final.
Avinash Sable finished 11th in the men’s
3000m steeplechase final with a time of 8:14.18.
