Introduction: With KC at 5-0,
Kansas City, Missouri – The Kansas City Chiefs
defeated the New Orleans
Saints 26-13 on Monday Night Football.
Kansas City entered the game with a
question mark at wide receiver, but wide receiver
JoJo Smith-Schuster had his best game
of the season, gaining 130 yards on seven
receptions. On the other hand, the Saints
struggled to score and QB Derek Carr left
the game in the fourth quarter with an oblique injury.
Here are the keys you need to know about the game
In the end, the Chiefs won the game by a significant margin. After winning their last seven games since last season’s playoffs by one point, they didn’t have to go all the way to defeat the Saints on Monday night at Arrowhead Stadium.
Instead, Kansas City won 26-13 and improved its record to 5-0. The Chiefs have now won at least five games in a row in each of Andy Reid’s 12 seasons as coach.
Bright spot: If Isaiah Pacheco hadn’t broken his leg, the Chiefs wouldn’t have signed Kareem Hunt. But Hunt is already helping the Chiefs survive in Pacheco’s absence, and he’s playing well enough to earn significant play when Pacheco returns. If both players can play, the Chiefs will have plenty of depth. Hunt had 27 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown.
Two words to describe this game: I see red. The Chiefs scored 2 of 6 touchdowns to New Orleans’ 20. Kansas City missed a touchdown in the red zone when Smith-Schuster deflected a pass at the goal line intended for a New Orleans interception.
Most surprising performance: Smith-Schuster scored just two goals in the first four games against the Chiefs, but scored five against the Saints. Smith-Schuster took over the role that Laci Rice played before the injury. He had the most rushing yards after the catch (82 YAC). However, he deflected the pass on the goal line for an interception. –
