iOS 17.7 – update notification for all iPhone users
Introduction: iOS 17.7
Apple released iOS 17.7 on
Monday with a warning
about updating its iPhone.
This is because iOS 17.7 comes
with a huge list of 16
important security fixes
for all iPhone users.
The company hasn’t provided
much information about
the fixes in iOS 17.7 to give
users a chance to update
and prevent attackers from
getting the details. Apple
said the iOS 17.7 update
“delivers important security
fixes and is recommended for all users.”
Apple’s iOS 17.7 update was
released at the same time as
iOS 18 and includes many of
the same security fixes. The
iOS 17.7 update is intended
for iPhone users who want
to wait to upgrade to the
latest Apple software.
What’s fixed in iOS 17.7?
Among the bugs fixed in
iOS 17.7 are two bugs in the
kernel of the iOS operating system,
Apple wrote on its support page. In the first case, CVE-2024-44165, network traffic leaks outside the VPN tunnel. The second, CVE-2024-4419, could allow applications to gain unauthorized access to Bluetooth.
The iOS 17.7 update also fixes two linking issues that could potentially expose data. The flaw in email accounts, tracked as CVE-2024-40791, could allow an app to access user contact information.
Meanwhile, accessibility issue CVE-2024-44171 could allow attackers with physical access to a locked device to use accessibility features to control nearby devices.
Update to iOS 17.7 or iOS 18 now
The issues fixed in iOS 17.7 have yet to be used for a live attack. However, it is important to perform the update as soon as possible because it contains many fixes that may affect the performance of the iPhone and its data.
Or if you’re brave, you can update to iOS 18 right now. You can also find more information about iOS 18 on my page on Forbes.com.
