Former Rep. Adam Kinsager is trying to convince Republicans to vote for Harris
Introduction: Former Rep
Adam Kinzinger, a former Illinois Republican and
primary opponent of Donald Trump, not only endorsed
Kamala Harris for president, but called the former
president stronger than any Democrat on stage tonight.
“Donald Trump is a weak man pretending to be strong.
A small man pretending to be big. A hopeless man
pretending to be dishonest. He is a criminal who cannot stop playing the victim. “He’s putting on a show, but there’s no real power behind it,” Kinsinger said on Jan. 6. Kinsinger, who was a member of the panel investigating the attack on the Capitol that day, spoke out against Trump’s involvement in the uprising.
Kinzinger, a veteran and self-described conservative, said, “I believe there is real power in standing up for the weak. This is family protection. The soul of a conservative is to stand up for our constitution and democracy. That was the soul of the Republican Party, but Donald Trump has strangled the soul of the Republican Party.”
Delegates packed the United Center with performances from B!NK and The Six as Beyoncé’s “Freedom” blared from the speakers, though the megastar herself didn’t make an appearance. But it was Harris who equalized most.
Although Kinzinger got more applause for his bipartisan rhetoric, the crowd ate him up. “I learned about the Democratic Party. I want to let my fellow Republicans in on a secret. Democrats are just as patriotic as we are.

Kinsinger is a popular Republican who served 12 years in Congress before being forced out of office by a redistricting map recently passed by the Democratic-controlled state legislature.
He ended his speech to Democrats by addressing Harris, saying he shares Kinzinger’s “loyalty to the rule of law, the Constitution, and democracy, and is committed to preserving all three in the service of our country.”
Kinzinger added: “No matter what policies we disagree with, they pale in comparison to the fundamental questions of principles, decency and loyalty to this country.”
